The 82nd Annual Daily News Golden Gloves Finals at The WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden will be held on April 16 and 17. The Daily News Golden Gloves, the oldest and largest amateur boxing tournament in the United States, is best known as the launching pad of many boxing greats, including Emile Griffith, Floyd Patterson, Riddick Bowe and Jose Torres, plus several female boxers such as Alicia Ashley and Melissa Salamone. The Daily News Golden Gloves tournament consists of approximately 11 weeks of elimination bouts held throughout the New York metropolitan area, culminating with the finals at the Garden.
